Parañaque provides P2,000 allowance for public school students
The local government of Parañaque City has recently announced a piece of good news for its students. Mayor Eric Olivarez has signed the checks for the monthly allowance of 110,000 students from kindergarten to senior high school in public schools. The announcement was made during the flag ceremony at Parañaque City Hall Grounds.
According to Mayor Eric, the signed checks will cover the months from September to December 2022, and each student will receive a monthly allowance of 500, totaling P2,000 for the four months. This allowance will be a huge help for the students to cover their transportation, food, and other necessary expenses for their education.
The distribution of the monthly allowance will be coordinated by the Local School Board of Parañaque under the leadership of Ms. Rhodora A. Villar.
Aside from the monthly allowance, 3,472 college students will also receive their College Educational Financial Assistance Program (CEFAP) for the first semester of school year 2022-2023. This will be provided through the Special Services Office under Ms. Marie Angelie M. Co.
The distribution of the CEFAP will be held at the Parañaque City Sports Complex, where 1,412 college students from the first district will receive their assistance on Tuesday, while 2,060 students from the second district will receive theirs on Wednesday.
Mayor Eric has prioritized these programs to improve the quality of education in the city. As a teacher and educator himself, aside from being a licensed nurse, he understands the importance of supporting the students' needs to achieve academic success.
The provision of financial assistance for the students is also in line with the city's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on providing quality education and reducing poverty.
Mayor Eric's administration continues to implement various initiatives to uplift the lives of the Parañaqueños, particularly those in the education sector. This move to provide monthly allowances for the students is just one of the many programs that the city government has implemented to ensure that the students' needs are addressed, and that they have access to quality education regardless of their economic status.
