Olivarez leads relief efforts for Paranaque fire victims
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez personally led the distribution of aid to families affected by a recent fire in Sitio Dulo Barcelona, Barangay Merville, and Airport Village, Barangay Moonwalk on March 24, 2023. The mayor visited the Airport Village Covered Court to hand over the relief assistance to the fire victims.
According to Mayor Eric, 124 families received aid from the local government: 50 from Barangay Moonwalk and 74 from Barangay Merville. The General Services Office under Ms. Josephine Mary Centena and the City Social Welfare and Development Department under Ms. Vivian Gabriel provided aid such as blankets, mats, clothing, rice, food packs, and hygiene kits. Additionally, the city government also provided financial assistance to all the affected families.
The mayor also talked to Engr. Oscar Fernandez, the head of the Local Housing Development Office, to initiate the reconstruction of houses in Sitio Dulo Barcelona to enable the residents to return to their homes as soon as possible. Furthermore, the Urban Mission Areas Development Office under Ms. Shella Bernal, together with GSO, will provide construction materials to those who lost their homes.
Mayor Eric emphasized that the aid provided is part of the city government's efforts to assist the affected families in their recovery. He also announced that the City Social Welfare Development Department's City Social Amelioration Program is available for those who need further financial assistance.
The fire relief efforts are just one of the many actions taken by the city government to assist its constituents in times of crisis. Mayor Eric and his team are committed to providing aid and support to the residents of Parañaque, especially during difficult times like this.
